Turning Locomotive Lights Off

The V200 (37803) with sound is one of my favorite locomotives. It was obvious to rebulid my blue-beige 221 118-3 (3581) in the same way. First a sound module 60 18 65 for 109 DM is needed. The normal 60901 is unsuitable to control the sound module, so I bought a special decoder 60 19 44 for 199 DM. Additional one needs stator 38 90 00, rotor 38 68 20 and motorshield 38 69 40. To save some mony, I bought a 60901-set, which contains this motor parts, and used the normal 60902 decoder in a Roco locomotve. For a good contact and a sound without interruptions I add a second pickup shoe with a large-scale trick.

As the parts received, I saw some differences to the parts of my V200. The sound module has the revision 1.2 instaed of 1.1. The older sound module has an additional wire on the backside. The newer one has an another layout and more electronic components on the frontside. The loco decoder V1.5 looks like in the 37803, but it has four resistors less. I donĀ“t know why.
First I attached the sound module with with double-sided tape into the big hole in the frame and pushed the decoder into its holder. After this I wired all, like the picture shows. I looked into my V200 (37803) for the right connections.

The brownred wire of the f1 function ist coneccted to the top soldering pad. This switches on and off the diesel sound. The f3 brownyellow wire is soldered to the next pad to use the horn. It comes the bluebrown and the browngrey wires to control the sound dependent to the speed of the loco. The two next soldering pads are connected together and needs the orange wire. It comes the last sound control wire (brownblack) and the last is the purple wire for the electronic ground.
This 221 has the bulbs 61 00 40, but it shines too bright in digital systems. Also it has a higher power consumption and this is too much for the decoder. Sometimes the light goes not on. One have tu cange with bulbs 61 00 80. It is possible to use a mix with 61 00 40 for the white light and a 61 00 80 for the red one. The bulbs are connected to grey an yellow, as shown in the wireing diagram. The backwire of both bulbs of driver´s stand 1 is the browngreen wire of the function f2. The backwire of driver´s stand 2 is the brownwhite wire for f4. If the loco connected to a train with driver´s stand 2, it is useful to switch off all lights of this side with f4. The light at the other side works normal. The motor is connected to blue and green.

While the first test drive it seems all ok. The lights works as expected and the horn and the diesel sounds well. However the diesel runs not synchronous to the movement of the loco. Normally first the diesel sounds faster and than the loco starts moving. My 221 does it at the same time und this is not realistic. While braking the diesel must to go to load free running and than the loco have stop. The 221 stopped with a high rpm and after a second the diesel goes softer. This was not torelable.
Because this decoder has less resitors than in my V200 (37803), I suppose this is the reason. After a while I found out, that all newer V200 has the same decoder without these four resistors (blue arrows) and all sounds well. To test what is wrong, I changed the decoder with it of my V200. Now this loco sounds wrong. After a inspection I recognized that the three sound control wired are connected different at the decoders. The bluebrown (red arrow) was exchanged for the blackbrown (green arrow). The photo shows the decoder BEFORE changing the wires. It is also possible to cange these two wires at the sound module. Then the brownblue wire comes at third and the brownblack between orange and purple. In any case the sound works well now.

It seems that the loco sounds with a higher rpm while start moving if the sound module is set to "1 motor". It would be logical, because one motor needs more power to move the loco than two motors. But the different of the sounds is low. I can not hear a different between one and two motors while switching off the diesel, so I took the same sound file.
